Program Learning Outcomes
This program will:
1. provide degree completion for college level students;
2. meet all requirements of the UCW Bachelor of Commerce –
Market Focused Research Degree; and
3. enable entrance to MBA program and its completion in one additional
year.
Admission Requirements
1. Successful completion of 60 credits (20-24 courses) from a
public sector college Business Diploma Program
2. Business Diploma curriculum should include two university-level
writing courses, a mathematics course and two economics courses.
3. GPA of ‘B’ or better in last year of program
Graduation Requirements
Bachelor of Commerce
- Completion of 7 Arts & Science courses (24 credits)
- Completion of 8 Business Courses (21 credits)
- Completion of 3 Capstone Courses (9 credits)
- Completion of Graduation Essay (6 credits)
Language Requirement
English is our language of instruction and communication.
International applicants whose first language is not
English are expected
to have the equivalent of a Canadian high school (Grade 12) diploma.
If your first language is not English, you will need to provide
evidence of
competency in English. This may include any of the following:
- TOEFL: 575 (paper based) or 233 (computer based);
- CanTEST: 4.5 in reading and listening, 4.0 in writing;
- Carleton English Language Test: 60 overall, with 60 in
writing proficiency;
- Michigan English Language Assessment Battery: 82;
- International English Language Testing Service (IELTS): 7.0
overall with no score less than 6.5;
- York English Language Test: 5;
- Language Proficiency Index: 5 or better.

Residency
A three and one-half day Residency is held prior to
the start of the program. For those wishing to study via the Internet,
the course can be completed on-line over 3 weekends. Attendance is mandatory and will set the appropriate tone for Internet
learning. During Residency, participants are oriented to the program
design, myUCW, some of the instructors and key support personnel
and each other. The Residency is an intense learning experience
that occurs around a weekend. Evaluation is a pass or fail grade
and progression to the Degree Completion program is subject to obtaining
a pass.
