Success at university depends on many factors, some
of them academic, some not. That’s why we have established
programs and systems that support you both in your studies and in
your life.
Small Class Sizes
At UCW you will never find yourself in a class of more than fifty
students. This means that your professor will have time for you
and everyone else in the class – time to explain concepts
thoroughly, answer questions fully, and give you the time and personal
attention you deserve.
Learning Coaches and Program Assistants
As a student at UCW, you will also have the support of an experienced
Learning Coach in every class. Your Coach is there to help you master
your coursework, prepare for examinations, and develop time management
and study skills that will help you succeed not only in your studies,
but in life. Full-time Program Assistants are also available to
help you with any technical, logistical or other issues you may
encounter.
Skill Development
Success at university depends, in part, on a set of skills that
will also serve you well in the workplace: the ability to manage
your time, work with others and communicate and study effectively.
Opportunities to learn and practice these career-enhancing life
skills have been built into each of our programs, in both our on-campus
courses and those conducted on-line.
Advising and Counselling
Each faculty at UCW has academic advisors who can help you plan
your program and make sure you are prepared for life after university,
whether that means graduate studies or career preparation. Contact
the Dean's Office of your faculty for assistance. Student Services
can also help you access personal counseling services available
through friendly, local community agencies.
