Start here, with our step-by-step
Admissions Guide. You’re just a few simple steps from making
UCW your University.
STEP 1:
Explore the UCW website to find out which program you are interested
in. Review the admissions criteria for your chosen area of study.
Consult the UCW online calendars for specific program information.

Calendar
STEP 2:
English is the primary language of instruction in all Faculties at
University Canada West. If you are applying for admission to any of
UCW’s programs, we must be sure you are proficient enough in
English to be successful, regardless of your citizenship status or
country of origin. Our English language proficiency policy exists
to ensure you have the skills you need to learn and succeed at university.
If you are unable to meet the English admissions requirements you
may be required to enroll in an ESL program in the University Canada
West Academy of Languages prior to enrolling in our university credit
courses. See the University
Canada West Academy of Languages website for further information.
Please see our English Language Proficiency
requirements for further information.
STEP 3:
Are you authorized to study in Canada? All international students
who are considering applying to University Canada West must contact
the Canadian Embassy nearest them to get an application for a Study
Permit. Study Permit application procedures can be lengthy (up to
six months or more in some countries), so you must apply early.
STEP 4:
Submit your application. Please make sure to immediately send the
following to University Canada West:
:: Official transcripts - Please note
that your official transcripts must be sent to UCW. (Official transcripts
are those that have been sent from the institution directly to UCW.)
They must also be sent to the International Credential Evaluation
Service (ICES) for evaluation and validation. This process may take
up to 16 weeks. Please be sure to apply to ICES as soon as possible.
This is a necessary step for all international students prior to formal
admission to UCW. ICES will charge a Document Evaluation Fee. For
information regarding fees and the evaluation process see the ICES
website: http://www.bcit.ca/ices.
Please note that you may be able to obtain provisional entry to UCW
until your documentation has been verified.
:: English proficiency test scores – from official
testing agency
:: Application fee of $100
:: A copy of your study permit – if you already
have one.
STEP 5:
Once University Canada West receives your application, we will acknowledge
the receipt of your application and you will be advised of outstanding
admission requirements (if any) which must be met.
STEP 6:
Once your application for admission is complete, we will review your
application and decide whether to extend an invitation of offer to
study at University Canada West.
You will then be advised of the program for which you are being considered
and given further instructions regarding the payment of your registration
fee plus any additional pertinent information you may require to commence
your studies at University Canada West.
