Canadian College of Business & Languages forms the new University Canada West Academy of Languages, expanding education in International Markets

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA

“CANADA’S newest university and one of Victoria’s oldest ESL schools, announced today the purchase of the Canadian College of Business & Language (CCBL), to mutually expand English and other language-related training to the international market through CCBL's network of agents and contacts worldwide.

David Strong, Chairman and CEO of LINC, Gerry La Belle, President of Canadian College and Laurel La Belle, Executive Director of CCBL signed the Purchase Agreement on August 31, 2005.

Under the Agreement, Canadian College will form the core of LINC’s new UCW Academy of Languages, with Gerry LaBelle staying on as President of Canadian College and Director of the Academy. UCWAL will deliver certified Language Training and Professional Development courses using CCBL’s innovative and highly successful methods. E- learning will eventually be combined with in-class instruction and tutorial support using LINC’s elegant “MYUCW” software and portals. An additional exciting aspect of this Agreement is that qualified ESL graduates will now be able to continue their studies in UCW’s undergraduate programs in Commerce, Arts or Science, as well as MBA programs, at the same tuition fees as UCW’s Canadian students. The Canadian College of Film & Acting one-year diploma programs will continue to be offered, with plans for graduates to be allowed to use their credits to continue on to UCW undergraduate studies in Communications and Media.

“Gerry LaBelle notes that the face of ESL is being transformed with a new emphasis on English for special purposes, and UCW and Its academies offer an enriched and exciting environment to international students in which to study. International students who study at UCW and its academies pay the same tuition fees as their Canadian friends. David Strong adds” It has always been my feeling that every Canadian student should have at least one international friend. The richness of our curricula, whether university or academy based, now helps to make that more of a reality. LINC and CCBL will also work with University Canada West to partner with a number of other associations and companies that service customers in search of English-based education content. Along with the UCWAL, students will also have access to LINC’s other Academies, including Business/Management, Fine arts and Design and Security and Transportation.
