Dr. David Strong, President and Vice-Chancellor, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Li Wenying (Wendy) as Special Assistant to the President, China.

For the past seven years, Ms. Li, a resident of Beijing, China, acted as producer, director and host of TV talk shows for China TV.

In 2000, she interviewed on TV more than 100 CEOs of prominent corporations, for her talk show called ‘The Challenge in 2000’, a well-known program on China Education TV.

In 2002 she created CRTVU Online Educational Technology Limited, the largest distance learning program in China, enrolling 2.6 million students. This company is a joint venture between TCL Corporation and the Central TV University. She continues to serve on its board.

In 2003 she produced and directed 100 episodes for a talk show on Economic Law for the Legislative Affairs Commission Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China.

In 2006 she was appointed as international ambassador for the World Congress on Information Technology.

Until 2007, Wenying worked with the China Ministry of Education, Basic Education Department, to produce and direct more than 300 episodes of public school ESL education TV shows. This was the biggest MOE project to date, called ‘Synchronization English Classroom’, broadcasting daily over 20 channels in China to help Chinese students improve their English. There are currently about 10 millions students involved in this TV program. In 2002, she received a national award for her English TV program production.

In her previous career, Wenying was a computer systems programmer at the R&D department of Lenovo China Corporation. Wenying has a computer science degree from the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
